Alexandre Desplat
French composer Alexandre Desplat is one of cinema's most sought-after voices — from The Shape of Water to the final Harry Potter films. Hear his music live.
Born in Paris in 1961, Alexandre Desplat has won two Academy Awards, for The Grand Budapest Hotel and The Shape of Water. He scored Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows, The King's Speech, Argo and many of Wes Anderson's films, developing an instantly recognisable style — elegant, rhythmic, often built on delicate woodwinds and music-box textures. One of the most prolific composers working today, Desplat writes with French refinement and wit. Performed live, his intricate textures come vividly into focus.
