Joe Hisaishi
Joe Hisaishi is the musical voice of Studio Ghibli — the composer behind Spirited Away, My Neighbour Totoro and Princess Mononoke. Hear his scores performed live.
Born in 1950, Joe Hisaishi has scored almost every Hayao Miyazaki film, creating some of the most beloved melodies in animation: the gentle "One Summer's Day", the sweeping "Merry-Go-Round of Life", the elegiac themes of Princess Mononoke. His style blends minimalism, romantic lyricism and folk warmth, equally at home on solo piano or with full orchestra. Hugely popular far beyond Japan, his concerts sell out worldwide. Performed live, his music carries all the tenderness and wonder of the films it accompanies.
