Ólafur Arnalds
Icelandic composer Ólafur Arnalds blends strings, piano and electronics into something quietly spellbinding. Hear his music performed live.
Born in 1986, Ólafur Arnalds emerged from Iceland's vibrant scene to become a leading voice in neoclassical music, winning a BAFTA for his score to Broadchurch. Albums such as re:member and Island Songs pair fragile piano and string writing with subtle electronics and his own self-built generative piano system. His sound is intimate, atmospheric and deeply Icelandic. Performed live, Arnalds' music wraps a room in stillness and warmth.
