Ennio Morricone
Ennio Morricone was a giant of film music — the unforgettable sound of The Good, the Bad and the Ugly and Cinema Paradiso. Hear his music performed live.
One of the most important and prolific composers of the 20th century, Ennio Morricone (1928–2020) wrote more than 500 scores. His music for Sergio Leone's westerns — whistles, twanging guitar, the human voice as an instrument — redefined what a film score could be, while The Mission ("Gabriel's Oboe"), Cinema Paradiso and Once Upon a Time in America showed his profound lyrical gift. He received an honorary Academy Award and, finally, a competitive one for The Hateful Eight. Performed live, his themes are pure, aching melody.
